She was involved with the Yale Daily News, a New Haven-based independent student newspaper run by Yale students. Elise Jordan has been a Republican her entire life. After graduating from Yale, she joined the Bush administration as a White House researcher in 2004. She began her career as a speechwriter for Condoleezza Rice, then-US Secretary of State. She held that position until February 2008, when she was appointed Director of Communications to the United States National Security Council. She was also the presidential speechwriter at the time. Barack Obama, a Democratic candidate, was elected President of the United States in 2008 and took office in January 2009.
She then began working for the government. In February 2009, Deloitte & Touche hired her as a senior advisor for strategy, planning, and policy. As part of the USAID Capacity Development Project in Kabul, Afghanistan, she served as an advisor to ten ministry communications offices. Jordan wrote a column for National Review Online, the website for the semi-monthly American conservative editorial magazine National Review. She has also written for prominent political publications such as The Daily Beast and Time. From March 2013 to April 2015, she was the chief of staff at H/2 Capital Partners, a financial consulting firm in Stamford, Connecticut. Jordan made her television debut on a Fox News talk show episode.
Jordan continued to appear on ‘Hannity’ on a sporadic basis until 2014, when he decided to try out a more challenging environment. She had mostly lived in a conservative bubble since leaving Yale. Her time in the Bush administration and at Fox News did not put her personal beliefs and agendas to the test. That changed in January 2016, when she joined NBC News and MSNBC. She is regularly challenged by the hosts on MSNBC, which is now regarded as the progressive equivalent of Fox News, which she had rarely experienced during her time at Fox.
