Emmy Award-winning journalist Erika Tarantal became part of WCVB Channel 5 in February 2014, taking on the roles of anchor and reporter for NewsCenter 5. Erika currently co-anchors WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 at 5 PM and 5:30 PM.
Prior to joining WCVB, Erika was associated with News 4 New York, NBC’s flagship station in New York City. In this role, she anchored the weekend newscast and frequently served as a primary fill-in co-anchor for WNBC’s weekday morning newscast, “Today in New York.” Erika covered significant events such as the passing of Pope John Paul II, the election of Pope Benedict, extensive coverage during Superstorm Sandy, and the tragic shootings in Newtown, CT.
Erika commenced her career at News 4 New York in December 2007 as a general assignment reporter. Before her tenure at NBC4, she worked as a general assignment reporter at WVIT-TV in Hartford, CT, starting in October 2005. Erika initially entered the field of journalism at News 12 in the Bronx, where she began as a general assignment reporter and eventually rose to the position of anchor for the station’s weekday morning newscast.
