Alex Lehnert Biography

Alex Lehnert is an American journalist, reporter, and meteorologist currently serving as the CBS Colorado First Alert Morning Meteorologist, a role she began in 2023. Before returning to her home state, she honed her skills as a meteorologist at KMSP FOX 9 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Alex has also worked as a news reporter and weather forecaster for two years at Sinclair Broadcast Group in Fresno, California.

Originally from Greeley, Colorado, Alex is thrilled to be back home, working in the First Alert Weather Center. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, and it was there that she set her sights on a career in broadcasting.

Her journey began in Casper, Wyoming, at KTWO-TV, where she wore many hats as a reporter, anchor, producer, editor, and weather forecaster. From there, she moved to Fresno, California, to work as a weather forecaster and reporter at KMPH-TV. After enjoying California’s sunshine, Alex embraced the cold, moving to Minneapolis to work as a Weekend Meteorologist at KMSP-TV for five years.

Now back in Colorado, Alex is excited to forecast the weather for her hometown viewers and continue her career in the First Alert Weather Center.
