He began his media career in 2004 when he joined the United States House of Representatives as a legislative intern and remained there until December 2004. After that, he went to work for KBOI-TV in 2007 as a morning anchor/reporter for roughly two years. He left KBOI-TV in 2009 and began working as a weekend anchor/reporter for KTNV TV in September 2009. He became a correspondent for NBC News’ FOX 5, where he covered major national stories. He was one of the first national reporters in San Bernardino after the terror incident and, tragically, has since covered many more mass shootings, including those in Orlando and Las Vegas. He covered the Flint water crisis, police shootings that sparked outrage, and a slew of hurricanes, blizzards, and tornadoes.
He worked for HNTV for three years, anchoring every weekend evening newscast and reporting three evenings a week. After that, he left KNTV and went to work for KARE 11 in September 2012 as a weekend reporter/anchor, where he stayed until September 2015. He is presently employed by NBC as a journalist, having joined the network in October 2015. Reporting for NBC’s Nightly News, TODAY, and MSNBC are among his responsibilities.
