Greene began her journalism career at the CBS affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she reported various interesting stories as a reporter and weekend anchor. Some of her reported stories to include the devastating Gatlinburg wildfires, which earned her the Emmy award alongside her other coworkers for Continuous Coverage. She also reported her first snowstorm and interviewed Tim Tebow one-on-one and reported live from the sidelines of Neyland Stadium.
