Deirdre became a part of the KCRA team on New Year’s Eve of 1997, having previously worked at KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa. Initially, she started as a weekend morning anchor but declined the weekday morning anchor position three times, unable to fathom the idea of waking up early five days a week compared to just two. Ironically, after anchoring in the mornings since 2000, she now finds it hard to stay awake to read out loud at 11 p.m.!
Deirdre’s talents have garnered her four Emmy awards in the fields of writing, anchoring, and reporting. As a proud member of the Hearst Television Olympic Team, she has traversed the globe alongside KCRA photographer Mike Domalaog, covering the last nine Olympic Games. Their journeys have taken them from the 2000 Sydney Olympics all the way to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
