Dominic Rains is an Iranian- American actor best known for his roles in independent films such as The Taqwacores (2010) and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014), as well as his roles as Dr. Crockett Marcel in Chicago Med (season 5) and Kasius, the main antagonist of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s first half of the fifth season.

Saving Jessica Lynch, a well-known TV film, launched Rains’ acting career in 2003. In 2006, he had an appearance in the popular TV movie Flight 93. Rains starred as Dr. Leo Julian: Night Shift in the ABC General Hospital soap opera for the 13-episode prime time run on SOAPnet’s General Hospital from July 12 to October 4, 2007. On July 2, 2007, the character was first introduced at the General Hospital. Rains’ brother Ethan was cast in the part after he became unavailable for the second season of the show on July 22, 2008. His performance was described as “especially eye-catching” by the New York Times, and as “reminiscent of Adrien Brody’s career-launching turn in Summer of Sam” by NBC.

Later the same year, he filmed and starred in the eerie thriller Jinn, produced by Exodus Pictures. The film was released in theaters around the country in April 2014. Shawn Walker, a young Detroit automobile designer, discovers an old truth that threatens to destroy his entire family, was his character. Rains were Saeed’s preference for the Sundance Picture Festival’s horror film A Girl Walks Home Alone at night. It was acquired by Kino Lorber for mainstream US distribution and released in late 2014, receiving positive reviews from numerous critics. “At its premiere, this breathtaking and stinging cinematic miracle left us speechless,” wrote Richard Lorber, one of the company’s founders.

Still Here, a short film written and directed by Rains, his brother Ethan, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Alan Rosenberg in 2014, was inspired by real-life cancer occurrences of their cousin. The Rains Brothers collaborated on this picture with Exodus Pictures. Rains debuted as Dr. Crockett Marcel, a new trauma surgeon in the hospital, in the fifth season of the NBC medical drama Chicago Med in 2019. Rains is a member of the Elephant Theater Company in Los Angeles and work in theater, television, and film. On stage with the Elephants, he has appeared in Desert Sunrise, Block Nine, Love Sick, Baby Doll, Cycles, and the North Plan
