Sher starred as Sue Heck, a quirky but optimistic teen, in the ABC comedy series The Middle from 2009 to 2018. For her role in The Middle, she received the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2013. However, on November 21, 2018, ABC announced that it would not proceed with the proposed spinoff.
