In New Orleans, she also launched a segment called “Neighborhood Heroes,” which aimed to showcase inspiring individuals making positive impacts within their communities—a concept similar to her later segment, “What’s Right.”
Kristin’s journalism career also took her to her hometown of Detroit, Michigan. As a reporter for WXYZ/WMYD, she covered several high-profile stories, including the corruption trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, the Renisha McBride murder case, and the Flint water crisis.
