Michael Phillip Seidel is an American meteorologist best known for his tenure at The Weather Channel from 1992 to 2024. Renowned for his on-the-ground reporting, he has covered severe weather events, including hurricanes, snowstorms, and other major weather phenomena. Over his career, he has broadcast live from 46 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and internationally from Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, and Cuba, completing over 25,000 live shots.
Before joining The Weather Channel, Seidel worked as a weather forecaster at WMDT in Salisbury from 1980 to 1982 and spent nearly three years as a weathercaster for WSYX-FM in Seaford, Delaware.
Seidel was laid off on April 29, 2024, as part of widespread cuts by The Weather Channel’s parent company. In August 2024, he joined Fox Weather, making his debut during coverage of Hurricane Debby.
