He joined FOX 11 in April 2005 after working for three years as the weekend anchor at FOX News. He is a certified member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) in 1994 and is recognized as a meteorologist by the organization.

Rick is a certified broadcast meteorologist currently serving as weather, environmental, traffic and breaking news reporter from SkyFOX helicopter during the FOX 11 Morning News and Good Day LA from Monday – Friday on FOX 11, KTTV Los Angeles. He joined the FOX network in April 2005 with experience of more than 30 years of his career, he has been able to cover a wide range of topics including weather and general news.
Rick received a Golden Mike Award for best traffic reporter in Los Angeles in 2000. He also earned several Emmy awards for his segment on Good Day LA. While in college, he interned at KTTV in 1990 before getting the opportunity to work at the station. After graduating, he secured a job at KTTV as a production assistant where he helped to launch the FOX 11 Morning News and Good Day LA in 1993.
He started his on-air meteorological profession as a weekend meteorologist at KEYT, the ABC affiliate in Santa Barbara in January 1998.
