Rob Marciano Biography
Robert Mark Marciano is an American journalist and meteorologist currently working with CBS News. From 2014 to 2024, he was part of ABC News, where he delivered forecasts for the weekend editions of Good Morning America. He took on this role after Ginger Zee transitioned to the weekday editions of GMA as Sam Champion’s successor.
Marciano first rose to prominence as a meteorologist, occasional reporter, and substitute anchor at CNN Worldwide’s Atlanta headquarters. Before joining ABC, he served as co-anchor for *Entertainment Tonight*, hosting the nightly 30-minute edition and the 60-minute weekend edition. He left *ET* in late August 2014, after 20 months, to join ABC.
From 1994 to 1997, Robert Marciano worked as a morning meteorologist and later as chief meteorologist for KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He then served as a weather anchor for WVIT Connecticut News 30 in West Hartford, Connecticut. In 1997, he became chief meteorologist for KATU-TV and 750 KXL News Radio in Portland, Oregon, a role he held until 2003 when he joined CNN in May of that year.
On November 12, 2012, Marciano was announced as the new co-anchor for *Entertainment Tonight*, a role he officially began in January 2013. His selection followed an extensive search to find a co-anchor to join Nancy O’Dell, replacing Mark Steines, who had departed after eight years. Marciano bid farewell to CNN viewers on *Early Start* and *Starting Point* on December 21, 2012.
On July 19, 2014, ABC News announced that Marciano would join the network as a senior meteorologist. He contributed to *Good Morning America Weekend* and provided weather updates throughout the week. Working alongside Ginger Zee and the Extreme Weather Team, he supported weather coverage across all ABC News broadcasts and platforms. His final co-hosting appearance on *Entertainment Tonight* was on August 27, 2014, and he debuted on *GMA Weekend* on September 6, 2014.
Marciano’s tenure at ABC News ended on April 30, 2024, following reports citing “anger management issues” and “allegedly inappropriate behaviors.”
In October 2024, Marciano joined CBS News as a weather correspondent. His first report for CBS aired on *CBS Evening News* on October 8, 2024.
