Shelley is a former news anchor at FOX 8 News based in New Orleans. She left the station in April 28, 2022, citing time with her family. She became a part of FOX 8 News in September 2008, right after Hurricane Gustav struck Louisiana. Initially, she contributed to the 4 1/2 FOX 8 Morning Edition Broadcast and subsequently transitioned to the evening news. Shelley took charge of anchoring the station’s news at 4 pm and 9 pm, actively collaborating with the FOX 8 Defenders and the National Council of Jewish Women to address consumer concerns. However, she decided to leave the news industry on April 28, 2022, in order to dedicate more time to her family.
Before her tenure at FOX 8 News, Shelley held positions as the weekday 5:30 evening anchor and a general assignment reporter at WTOL-TV in Toledo, Ohio. She has been recognized with the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award on four occasions and was honored specifically for her exceptional coverage of the FOX 8 Defenders’ investigation into the limousine industry. During her time in Ohio, Shelley earned accolades for her work on various projects, including the investigation series “Kids for Sale” and “Katrina: Back Home,” a first-person account of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Shelley and her entire family faced the devastating loss of their homes in St. Bernard during the storm and courageously persevered while being trapped in 12 feet of floodwaters.
