Bertinelli began her acting career in 1974 when she appeared in an episode of the television series ‘Apple’s Way.’ Her big break came in 1975 when she was cast in Norman Lear’s hit CBS television series “One Day at a Time.” She portrayed Barbara Jean Copper in the series. She established her own film company and produced the television films Shattered Vows’ in 1984 and ‘Silent Witness’ in 1985. Bertinelli also appeared in the 1987 television miniseries ‘I’ll Take Manhattan.’ This series was based on Judith Krantz’s novel. She also appeared in two situation comedies, “Sydney” and “Cafe Americain.” These shows were canceled after only a few episodes.
