Vanessa Welch is an award-winning American journalist who recently stepped down as co-anchor of Boston 25 News at 5:00, 6:00, 10:00, and 11:00 p.m. She bid farewell to the station in May 2024, with her family joining her on air for one of her final newscasts.
While Welch did not disclose specific details about her next role, she revealed that her new job is outside the television industry and offers a more regular schedule, allowing her to spend more time with her family.
“I have accepted a new opportunity in Boston,” Welch announced on air. “It’s outside the television industry. I’m excited about this.”
Welch joined Boston 25 News in 2015 and has earned multiple Boston/New England Emmy Awards for Best Anchor.

Vanessa is an award-winning journalist who worked as co-anchor of Boston 25 News’ evening newscasts with Mark Ockerbloom, Chief Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz, and Sports Anchor Tom Leyden at 5:00, 6:00, 10:00, and 11:00 p.m. She joined Boston 25 News in 2015, where she reported special and fruitful news stories across Massachusetts.
