Wolfgang Van Halen is a well-known American musician best known as the former bassist for Van Halen and Tremonti (2006-2020). (2012-2016). Since 2006, he has been performing as a bassist with the band Van Halen. He has also previously contributed to the heavy metal band Tremonti. His parents named him Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart after the classical composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Van Halen will form a new band called Mammoth WVH in November 2020.

Van began his career as a drummer. He would often watch his father practice and would occasionally try to play his uncle Alex’s drum kit, prompting the latter to give him a few lessons. He began playing the drums at the age of nine, learning from his uncle and father. Wolfgang later became an active member of the band Van Halen. Wolfgang debuted as a new member of Van Halen in 2007. Van Halen announced in August 2010 that they would record a new album with Wolfgang on bass. In early 2008, he appeared on the cover of Guitar World’s April issue alongside his father, in the magazine’s first father-son issue. His only album was released in February 7, 2012, ‘A Different Kind of Truth’ which he recorded in 2011. Tremonti’s first album, All I Was was released on July 17 of that year. Van Halen became an official member of Tremonti in 2013 and he appears on the band’s 2015 studio album Cauterize and its 2016 follow-up Dust.

On February 11, 2021, he announced the release of his self-titled debut album on June 11, 2021. As his father asked if he wanted to join him, the musician began playing the bass. He initially saw bass as “an easier version of the guitar, but as soon as I started playing it, I realized how wrong that was,” but stated that his previous experience with a guitar helped him deal with the instrument.
