Rick Warren Biography
Rick Warren ( born Richard Duane Warren) is an American Baptist evangelical Christian preacher, a motivational speaker, and one of America’s best-selling Christian authors. Saddleback Church was founded by him and he is the lead pastor. He also presented the Civil Forum on the Presidency, which featured back-to-back presidential candidate interviews with John McCain and Barack Obama. A global strategist, philanthropist, theologian, and pastor.

He was called to full-time ministry at the age of nineteen, while still a student at California Baptist University, in 1973. He also traveled to San Francisco that year to hear Pastor W.A. Criswell preach. In 1980, he gave his first public service lecture at the Laguna Hills High School Theater, where he formed the Saddleback Church. The ceremony took place on Easter Sunday and was attended by 200 individuals. He authored ‘The Purpose Driven Church,’ a book for pastors and church leaders, in 1995. He emphasized the concept of God’s purpose rather than the ideology of the authorities on ministry in this work.
In 2002, he published a devotional book called ‘The Purpose Driven Life,’ which was released by Zondervan Christian media & publishing. He spoke at the TED worldwide series of conferences in 2006, and his congregation (the Saddleback Church) organized the Global Summit on AIDS same year, which Barack Obama attended.
He moderated the Civil Forum on the Presidency in August 2008, which featured back-to-back interviews between presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain. In 2010, he was one of the speakers at John Stephen Piper, a Calvinistic Baptist Christian preacher and author,’Desiring God’ conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He teamed together with the Readers Digest Association to develop the Purpose Driven Connection in 2009.
