Sean Lock was a British stand-up comedian, writer, and actor well-recognized as the first stand-up comedian to perform at Wembley Stadium. He served as the team captain of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown since 2012.
Sean Lock’s Death | Dead due to Cancer
Lock died from cancer at his home on 18 August 2021, at the age of 58. In 1990, Lock was diagnosed with skin cancer, attributing the condition to overexposure to the sun while working as a builder in the early 1980s. After seeing his doctor, he was referred to a dermatologist at Guy’s Hospital, in London. He made a full recovery. In May 2012 he gave his support to a Sun Awareness event at the hospital.

Before joining the comedy industry, Sean was involved in different professions so that he would be able to make ends meet. He worked as a laborer on building sites and goatherder. Sean developed skin cancer while working as a laborer. He landed his first role in TV in the 1993 sketch comedy series Newman and Baddiel in Pieces. Sean was also a regular cast in “Is It Bill Bailey?” which he consequently appeared with his radio show 15 Minutes of Misery which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4. 15 Minutes of Misery ran between late 1998 and early 1999 before it was reinvented to the series 15 Storeys High. However, the series 15 Storeys High was broadcast on TV after two radio series.
He has also starred in an episode of The World of Lee Evans in 1995 as an escaped murderer. Sean also landed a small role in the British series Top Buzzer and was a regular cast in the 2005 series of the panel game 8 Out of 10 Cats.
