Ms. Glazer began performing stand-up comedy while attending theatre school. She joined the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in 2006 before moving on to stand-up comedy and improv. She collaborated with Abbi Jacobson to create the web series Broad City in 2009. They are also the main actresses in the series as fictionalized versions of themselves. It received a lot of positive feedback and was nominated for an ECNY Award for ‘Best Web Series.’ Amy Poehler, an American actress, and comedian were intrigued by the web series and met with Glazer and Ms. Jacobson, agreeing to appear in the series finale as well as assist the duo in shopping for a pilot script based on the series.
The three ladies successfully wrote the pilot script, and with Poehler as producer, the FX cable network bought the script but decided not to develop it. After that, Jacobson and Glazer approached Comedy Central, which purchased the script from FX and ordered a pilot. Broad City debuted on television in January 2014. It received a lot of positive feedback, and the show was renewed for a second season in February 2014. The third season aired, and the fourth and fifth seasons were announced in early 2016. Glazer’s first stand-up special, The Planet is Burning, is available on Amazon Prime. Grazer serves as an Executive Producer on the special, which was directed by Ryan Cunningham. It debuted in January 2020.
