Kim’s journey in broadcasting commenced as an intern at WJR Radio. She then secured her first on-air role at WHIZ-TV in Zanesville, Ohio. Working for a small NBC affiliate, she faced financial challenges, leading her to commute back to Detroit on weekends to clean houses and make ends meet. Following a brief tenure at WBNS in Columbus, Ohio, Kim received a job offer from WXYZ-TV. In July 1997, she achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first female meteorologist in the history of Detroit television.
Beyond her work at the station, Kim takes great pride in serving her community. As a breast cancer survivor, she actively collaborates with the New Day Foundation for Families, which offers financial assistance to cancer patients by helping them cover expenses like mortgages and groceries, enabling them to concentrate on their healing process.
