Matthew is a former meteorologist for Capital Weather Gang. He contributed to The Washington Post. Hailing from Cape Cod, his fascination with weather began as early as age 2 when he struggled to pronounce “wind meter.” By the time he was 7, he had saved up enough money to buy a video camera. Throughout the summer thunderstorms, he would dash outside to capture lightning bolts on film. At the remarkable age of 14, Cappucci achieved the distinction of becoming the youngest presenter at the American Meteorological Society. He delivered an abstract on “outflow boundary-related waterspouts.”
Upon entering Harvard in 2015, Cappucci took his passion for atmospheric sciences to the next level. He designed and launched the first undergraduate education program in this field. Juggling his studies, he also enrolled concurrently at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
