Previously, she served as a co-anchor of FOX 5 News Morning and Good Day DC. She joined FOX 5, in 1999 and has held many duties at the station including being a nightside reporter, investigative reporter, money and consumer reporter and anchor.

Melanie developed her passion for journalism when she was still young. Furthermore, she started her own newspaper at the age of 8 years. Though it was just a handwritten rag on notebook paper, complete with her own illustrations of neighborhood happenings.
Melanie Alnwick started her career in television as a news director’s secretary at WUSA-9 in Washington DC. While there, she learned many things concerning her profession and how TV stations work despite working in a minor role. She began her on-air job in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where she did weather and still acknowledges the way around an NWS forecast map.
She also worked at NBC-17 in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she learned how to shoot a gun, found out what a hog waste lagoon is and witnessed one of the last live tobacco auctions in the state. She also engineered a fantastic trip with the U.S. Air Force to Bosnia, Albania, Germany and Italy during the Kosovo conflict. She also had the privilege of flying in the cockpit of a C-17 across the Atlantic.
Alnwick likes giving back to the community by volunteering at local hospitals with Musicians on Call. She also teaches art history to elementary school students.
