Yaya DaCosta ( born Camara DaCosta Johnson ) is an American actress and model who rose to second place in Cycle 3 of America’s Next Top Model and has been in a number of television shows, including ABC’s daytime soap All My Children, Ugly Betty, and since 2015, NBC’s hospital drama Chicago Med.

DaCosta went on to have a great career after finishing second on Cycle 3 of America’s Next Top Model. During the competition, DaCosta only finished in the bottom two once. In 2008, she played Cassandra Foster, the daughter of Angie Hubbard, on the ABC soap opera All My Children (Debbi Morgan). According to Charles Pratt, Jr., All My Children’s new head writer, DaCosta left the program in August 2008, less than four months after joining the company, to join the Broadway production of The First Breeze of Summer. The famous Negro Ensemble Company presented The First Breeze of Summer from 2008 to 2009. In the fourth and last season of the ABC comedy-drama series Ugly Betty, she had a recurring role as Nico Slater, the daughter of Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams).
DaCosta has minor roles in The Kids Are All Right, a comedy-drama film, and Tron: Legacy, a science fiction action-adventure film, both in 2010. She later appeared in magazines, notably on the cover of W in September 2010, L’Officiel in November 2010, and Vogue in December 2010. (in January 2011 by Patrick Demarchelier). She also starred alongside Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey in the historical drama film The Butler in 2013.
In a CNN interview with actress Angela Bassett in 2015, it was revealed that DaCosta would play Whitney Houston in a Lifetime television film on her life, which would be Bassett’s directorial debut. DaCosta earned a lot of positive feedback for her performance. In addition, from 2015 until 2021. DaCosta has starred in the NBC medical drama Chicago Med as April Sexton, an ED nurse. On May 14, 2021, DaCosta announced that she is leaving Chicago Med after six seasons and before her exit she has joined Fox’s drama series Our Kind of People as Angela.
