Her journey in journalism kicked off in Charleston back in 1988 when she took on the role of news and public affairs director at WPAL-AM. Just a year later, she became the news director at WMGL-FM. That same year, she made her debut in front of the camera as a news anchor and reporter at WCSC-TV, where she spent 12 years honing her craft. In 2001, Carolyn took a leap and moved to Chicago to work as a consumer reporter at WBBM-TV, but she found her way back to Charleston in 2003, stepping in as an evening anchor for WCBD-TV.

Beyond her on-screen work, Carolyn is deeply involved in her community, serving on various boards such as The International African American Museum, The City of Charleston Health and Wellness Committee, The First Tee of Greater Charleston, The Charleston Animal Society, the MUSC Neurosciences Advisory Board, and Tricounty Family Ministries. She has also contributed her time to the MUSC Nursing School Advisory Board, the Mayor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families in Charleston, the Junior League of Charleston, and the YWCA Greater Charleston, among others.
