He left CNN in September 2022, due to disagreements with the network’s management. Previously, he worked as an editor at large and reporter for CNBC news for close to five years. He was even hired as a contributor and columnist for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. John also served as a presenter and co-anchor on NBC and MSNBC News.

Harwood is a former White House correspondent for CNN News. He joined the station back in February 2021 after he completed his Tenure at CNBC. John worked as an editor at Large and Chief correspondent for CNBC News. He first began his career as a journalist by joining the St.Petersburg Times based in Tampa, Florida. During his time there, John traveled to South Africa to cover the major developments in the final years of apartheid in early 1970.

In 1991, he joined The Wall Street Journal as a White House Correspondent who covered the George W. Bush administration at that time. In 1997, he went on to join Capitol Hill as a political editor and chief political correspondent. In March 2006, he was hired by CNBC as the chief Washington correspondent for five years.
