Kyle Kraska Shooting

Kyle was shot in front of his Scripps Ranch residence as he was pulling out of the garage just after 3 p.m. on a Tuesday. Following the incident, he was swiftly rushed into surgery at Scripps La Jolla Hospital, and as of Tuesday evening, his prognosis appeared promising, according to the station’s report. The alleged shooter, Mike Montana, fled the scene in a white van bearing the words “Prevalent Painting” on the side. Police apprehended him later that same night after neighbors spotted the van parked outside an El Cajon residence.

In October 2014, Kraska hired Montana to paint the exterior of his house for a sum of $3,000. The victim claimed that Montana abandoned the job when Kraska refused to provide him with more money beyond the initial $800 down payment. Kraska had originally agreed to pay Montana the remaining $2,200 upon job completion.

However, Montana did not adhere to this agreement, as per Kraska’s testimony. He stated that the defendant frequently failed to show up for work and even caused damage to some of his property. Mike Montana was charged with shooting the sportscaster at least four times, apparently due to a dispute over money. Upon hearing the word “guilty” for the first time, he wept.
