Devon began his acting career in Steve McQueen’s HBO miniseries Codes of Conduct which was canceled after the pilot was filmed. He then attended the auditions of ‘Barry’ a biopic about Barack Obama’s college years.
For him to secure a role in the film he had to work with a dialect coach and also watched Obama’s speeches to master his accent. Through his hard work, he was offered part one of the audition. He also worked hard and practiced writing and playing basketball with his left hand so as to mimic the true qualities of Barack Obama. He also took time to read Obama’s book “Dreams from My Father” three times.
Devon also took part in the Netflix original series Cursed as king Arthur. The first season of the series was released on July 17, 2020, and also played his role in Issa Rae’s Rap Sh!t as Cliff and the comedy was aired on July 21, 2022, on HBO Max.
