Jay Dow is an American award-winning journalist currently serving as a news correspondent at PIX11 based in New York. He joined WPIX-TV in January 2012, after serving as a correspondent for nine years at WCBS-TV, in New York. He also serves as a freelance adjunct journalism professor at Montclair State University.

Jay is a news correspondent for PIX11 News. Since joining WPIX in 2012, he has been a key player in the station’s coverage of breaking news, investigative reporting, local and national politics, the economy, and societal issues.

In October 2012, Jay reported from the Jersey Shore, documenting the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy as it ravaged several beach communities.

Before joining WPIX, Jay spent nine years with WCBS-TV in New York City. He served as a New Jersey correspondent from 2002 to 2008 and as a Morning News correspondent from 2008 to 2012. He also has extensive national reporting experience, having contributed to the CBS Evening News Weekend Edition as a network correspondent from 2010 to 2011.

Jay began his journalism career on the streets of New York City as a nightside general assignment reporter for NY1 News from 1999 to 2002.

Throughout his career, Jay has received numerous accolades, including 16 Emmy Awards, seven Associated Press Awards, five National Association of Black Journalists Awards, and two Edward R. Murrow Awards, one of which was for Excellence in Writing.

Jay was in New York City on September 11, 2001, and covered the World Trade Center attack. He spent that tragic day and the following months reporting daily on the city’s recovery efforts in Lower Manhattan.

While at NY1, Jay also reported on the anniversary of the Murrah Federal Building bombing from Oklahoma City and covered the aftermath of the American Airlines Flight 587 crash in the Dominican Republic.

His broadcasting career began at WJAC-TV (NBC) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and he previously worked as an in-studio network news assistant at CBS News.
