Amroliwala is the main presenter of Global, BBC World News’ flagship news and discussion program. He joined the international news channel in September 2014, after spending 16 years as a lead presenter on the BBC’s UK rolling news network. Matthew began working for the BBC in 1989. He was a chartered accountant before joining the BBC. He began working as a BBC network television correspondent in 1990. He joined the BBC News Channel in 1997 as an evening presenter, and since the beginning of 2001, he has presented the late afternoon news programme, first with Jane Hill and then with Maxine Mawhinney. Furthermore, he was reunited with Hill in April 2006 on the 11 a.m.-2 p.m. shift until March 2013.
He has covered numerous major news stories, including extensive reporting from Northern Ireland. He also covered the fall of Srebrenica from Bosnia and traveled throughout the Balkans during the conflict in Bosnia.
